  • Virtual tours from History Collection in LEGO House

    Jan Beyer

Dear all, many AFOLs mentioned to me that they enjoyed the virtual tours from the History Collection in LEGO® House last year and would love to see similar again.

So I am very happy that my colleagues at LEGO House have agreed to redo the activity in an updated version including learnings from last time.

The virtual tour will again be hosted by LEGO Corporate Historian Kristian Reimer who will take you on a detailed journey of the history of the LEGO Group and who will showcase highlights from the archive in the basement of LEGO House that have not been touched upon in last year’s live tours and of course we also include a live Q&A to answer your relevant questions.

The tours will be distributed through a period from May to November and cover everything from the early beginnings in 1932 up till 2020.

To provide anin-depthlivetour we offer 5 individual tours based on 5importantchaptersof the LEGO Group’s history.

We are offering two sessions per day, with the same content, to facilitate different time zones.

Please be aware that we operate in Billund time (CEST). We kindly ask you to convert the timing to your timezone.

The price for each 60 minutes long virtual tour is 50 DKK.

You can participate in any of thelivetours bybuying a ticketvia the link at the end of this page.

Please note that participation does not require any special software  –we will sendyoua link for the session, which you need to click on-andyou just join via a web browser.

    Awesome!!

    Observations:

    • Would be a bit more user-friendly if there were be links for the ticket dates/times within the description, instead of making the user to use the calendar. But maybe I am too picky here ;)
    • After selecting the date and choosing the time, the page jumps to the very top instead of where it should. Confuses the user in more than one way, especially when you also see TICKETS --> at the top right corner. Tried on a few browsers - this needs fixing.

At the second stage, and this is where it gets actually bad, - 'Your information'

    • It allows to go through without agreeing to the Terms & Conditions. It looks as if that tick-box is only intended to agree with receiving the newsletter, but the actual page links to the Privacy Policy and is talking about the collection and use of personal info, "LEGO House and our services, etc. offer a number of activities, including activities that might comprise collection of information from children." etc. Secondary issue is that if someone would 'fix' this by making this tick-box mandatory, then there would be no way to say NO to the newsletter from the LEGO House and it's partners. Partners link is a 404 btw.
    • 'Rules and Conditions' have nothing to do with online tickets except perhaps the Cancellation Policy, but.. not really.
    • While 'Terms and Conditions' links to the 'LEGO® House Privacy Policy', 'Rules and Conditions' in turn links to 'Terms and conditions'.

A mess from the start to the end really :( Perhaps not the most correct place to post all this -please let me know if it's preferred if I move this elsewhere.

Question - is it okay to gift the tickets? I guess no one really cares too much, but I am missing the 'gift' option. And - at the same time - a nice email to the receiver stating that it is a gift from someone. This is an inexpensive but a very nice gift idea and I would like to purchase a few.

Question 2 - if I want to buy more than one ticket at once, will it be several different links in the email? Or is it going to be a single link with multiple uses. Or.. a link with no set number of uses and the while thing based on trust?

I appreciated the series of similar events last summer. I'd recommend this to my friends (even beyond the LUG). I'm a bit puzzled by the fact this isn't free like it was last summer...

Thanks a lot @Marco Cantù - the reason why we take a little fee to join is that there is quite some workload behind the production and we have 5 colleagues involved so we need to make sure that activities like this are at least a bit sustainable.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Sure, makes sense... but a bit harder to get less passionate AFOLs to join.

Could be but at the end it is cheaper than a cinema ticket so perhaps not a super big hurdle if you are interested into the LEGO history.
