  • Happy (Belated) Birthday LEGO Group!

    Sara S

Someone recently told me birthdays this year don't count - but in this case I think we can make an exception.

On Monday, August 10th, The LEGO Group had a birthday. Although we're a couple days late, this is still worth celebrating!

The following is written by Signe Wiese, Corporate Historian:

[On] August 10th, we celebrated the 88th anniversary of the LEGO Group. 88 years ago, in 1932, LEGO® founder Ole Kirk Kristiansen produced the first pieces of wooden toys in his workshop in Billund. And – as they say – the rest is history. (pretty great history, if you ask us 😉)

This photo of Godtfred Kirk Christiansen and Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen raising the flags in front of the old LEGO headquarter is from 1982, when the LEGO Group celebrated its 50th anniversary.

@GhostlyWild - thank you for your question. Sounds absolutely awesome that you're using your Youtube channel to share your love for The LEGO Hobby! It's a bit of a myth that LEGO Group send sets out early to Youtube channels - The LEGO Group might send early review offers to a very few channels - note the words might and few, and there are a lot of channels in the network. I suggest you take a look in the "find a group" section, choose "online communities" in the overview and then reach out to one of the channels you see on the list to learn more. This way you can ensure that any expectations you may have are aligned with what the current recognised communities experience in their collaboration with LEGO Group. Further you can read about The LEGO Ambassador Network on this link and if you have further questions use the "Contact Us" button - as you'll see in the material the purpose of The LEGO Ambassador Network is to represent your community, to connect and share with peers + ask questions from your community to the LEGO Group. It's incredibly important for me to align expectations with you because we do get this question a lot ;)

Good luck with your channel and feel free to reach out again - maybe we'll even see you here on the LAN in the future! :)

    All the best,

    Signe Lønholdt
