  • Taking Applications for Recognition again

    Kim Ellekjær Thomsen

    Dear AFOL Community,

We are at a point where we are comfortable and ready for new communities to become recognized and part of the ever growing LEGO Ambassador Network. We have been working hard - or actually the BrickMates have been working hard in 2018 (and 2019) to onboard and assist new communities and therefore we are now ready to welcome new communities.

While we are aware that there are lots of communities out there who want to be part of the LEGO Ambassador Network, we also recognize that there is a limit to how many and how quickly we can add to the network and at the same time ensure proper onboarding. Therefore we will be limiting the number of communities we approve every month. This means that even if your application is approved it may be a few months before you actually gain access and have a BrickMate appointed. But all this will be properly communicated in the Application Process.

First step is to ensure you have the authority and approval of your community to apply on its/their behalf. You, and your community, must also select a 2nd Point of Contact when submitting the application to ensure we have someone we can't get in touch with, even if the Application Submitter becomes temporarily unavailable. During the Application Process it is also advisable that you start discussions on and election of the person you want to represent you in the LEGO Ambassador Network - the LAN Ambassador.

You can read all about LAN and the different types of Recognized Communities you can apply to become part of in the Visitor Zone. The Recognized Community Application can be found in the Forms Section. Please note that you must have a LEGO ID and activate it here on LAN as a Member Account to submit an application.

For applications submitted prior to June 2020: The next review is June 2020.

For applications submitted in June 2020 or after, the next reveiw is September 2020.

Your web browser recognizes you as a registered user of the LAN (cookies), try to open the Visitor Zone link in "Incognito Mode" (Google Chrome) or the "private mode" of your web browser, you should see this:

I did wonder if it was due to my status hence not mentioning it before.  Thanks for explaining 👍

You can simply log out as an ambassador and you'll be able to view the Visitor Zone. You're not a visitor when logged in as an ambassador, hence you cannot access the Visitor Zone. It is hidden for all but visitors and member accounts.

Checking for a neighbouring LUG... While logged out if I try to access the forms section it tells me the area is not available if I'm a guest. Does this mean a LEGO ID is required to be able to see the application form?

I couldn't get the form to work even when a link was provided to me via email. it always came up as an error. A friend had to access the link for me since I simply couldn't get it to work.

Looking for this, I can't access the form for recognition. I'm not logged in (accessing incognito mode) but looking at the forms section I get the message:

The page you are trying to access is not available to guests, but may be available if you sign in.
    Error code: 2S100/2

Is it working for anyone else? Or maybe the form is down right now?

You can only see the forms if you are logged in and not an ambassador. So you'll need to use a different LEGO ID

So it is visible if logged in with a LEGO ID not associated with an ambassador? I've tried being logged out (from various different sources, and that showed nothing). So as current ambassador, there's no way for me to see these forms without borrowing an ID from another user? That's a bit weird...

Regardless, I tried with my daughters LEGO Life ID, which due to her age is set to use my email address. That' has completely locked up my LAN access on my phone as it requires my to register and accept terms and conditions, but it doesn't allow me to change the email address, nor will it allow me to proceed with an email address that is already used by another LAN account. I probably need to clear some cookies, as there's no way for me to log back in as myself now... 😞

@Magnus Hindsberger, BrisBricks (Austr.), The public forum seems to be accessible by the public, no LEGO ID login is required. You can work around this by using another browser , eg IE or Mozilla or Opera which is "fresh" in terms of cookies/saved forms.

I take that back, forum is accessible if you are not logged on with LEGO ID but forms are not..

As of about a week ago the visitors zone has been added to the ambassador forum view. This means you can now see that part of the forum if you are logged in.

At the same time, the forms referred to in that section are now also accessible in the forms section while logged in as ambassador ;)

Sounds good. However, I still can't see any of the recognition forms suggesting these may be offline at the moment?

    Thanks Jetro.

It's really weird. I dont see that middle entry. Maybe it's only visible to RLOC/RLFM ambassadors, but not for RLUGs? There was another form for meeting reporting one of my RLOC friends couldn't see but was visible to me as RLUG ambassador?

    Hi @Magnus Hindsberger, BrisBricks (Austr.),

Since you're already an ambassador of a community the form isn't available to you - it's only available to non-ambassadors. Jetro could see it due to an error. Can I ask what you need it for?

@Sara Skahill, I've sent you a message with details.

I have a had a new LUG reach out to me looking for details on when the next window for new LUG submission will be.

The last post from Kim said January 2020 with no update since September 2nd 2019.

Any info I can pass along?

@Sara Skahill Somebody from a not-yet-RLUG contacted me, because they sent an application for recognition but did not get any answer within a couple of weeks. For somebody who is not aware of the current situation about staff shortage in the AFOLET it looks like something went wrong. Could you please just sent a short "application received" message to the applicants? Or do you have any message which I can forward to them?

Hello and a nice evening to everybody!
Thank you @Thomas Nickolaus for posting my request regarding the recognition application.
I wasn't sure, if the transfer of the data has been working correctely. If everythin was transfered correctly, I'm glad about that, so I know, all relevant data has arrived.
If the transfer didn't worked, please give us a short message.

    Kind regards,
    Joachim

    Hi,

I was also wondering about this, we submitted an application back in October and the last communication from Kim was in November. I don't want to rush anyone, but since it's early summer now I was just wondering how the pipeline looks like.

    Thanks,
    Aron

    Hi Aron,

The LAN team has been short-handed. Kim has left the team and his replacement has only recently arrived. Covid-19 has also had a significant impact on the activity of the team.

The LAN team is complete again, restrictions are slowly being lifted and things are picking up speed. Of course there is a significant backlog, but  I'm confident applications will be revised shortly and I look forward to seeing new ambassadors on the LAN forums soon.
