As mentioned in my last post I had 2 additional exciting updates which I was not able to share with you at that time.
Well today I am happy to share some new with you.
First, in 2014 we brought on a freelance person part time, Ana Albouy, to help us in so much of the logistical operations with the team. We do a LOT of shipping of bricks and sets and I would prefer to have community managers doing community manager things rather than shipping boxes. This Ana was so successful for us that we have now made this a full time position. The position now can be found on on our job advertising board on lego.com as the operations specialist position. This role will ensure we have a person dedicated to deploying the many support programs we have which will allow Kim, Kevin, and Jan to stay focused on the community. We expect this position to be hired soon.
Secondly, I am happy to announce that within Quarter 1 we will start the hiring process for a new community manager! This community manager will be based in Shanghai, China and will be apart of the community support team. Jan Beyer has had an amazingly successful start up of the communities in Asia so now we need to have a person physically based out there to meet the growing need for face to face dialog from both the community and the sales offices. We have not posted this position yet, that will come in the next couple weeks, so we do not expect to that the person hired until Quarter 2 of this year. Jan Beyer will remain the community manager for both Asia and pacific until the new person has been trained and comfortable to take over the responsibilities.
This additional community manager will allow Jan to put even more focus on the new LEGO House which is being build in Billund. The LEGO house management team really want to have the community team involved in many aspects of the experience in the building, and based on Jans extensive experience, it only is natural he takes on this exciting position. He will continue to hold community manager responsibilities in eastern Europe, Russia, and other unique parts of the world where LEGO is expanding it business.
