  • LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part - Early Screening

    Jordan P

Ever since Emmet convinced parents to put down the Kragle and get back to building we have been awaiting the sequel. Today it was announced that select movie theaters will be hosting an early access screening on January 26th!

If your community goes, make a day of it! Dress up (or just where your community shirt) and share your pictures! Hopefully theaters will be filled with AFOLs!

    AMC

    Cinemark

    Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

    Fandango

    WB Press Release

The AFOL Engagement team is already in line! (dressed up in costumes obviously)

Whether you find your way to the theater this weekend or not you can still prepare for the movie by picking up the new LEGO® Movie 2 LEGO sets.

I like it. I forgot about the minifigure I received. I got Robot DJ at the theater I went to. I wonder if there will be promos this year?

For the Aussies, who have to wait till April, (48 days after the rest of the world), there are early Feburary (6th & 7th?) screenings at Imax and a few other select cinemas.

Definitely do not want to derail this thread away from excitement for the movie (please keep us updated with pics from the premieres when they happen) But Village also delayed the first LEGO Movie, and the Batman LEGO movie in this country. There was absolutely a lot of upset in the AFOL community in response (made worse by them promising they wouldn't do it again. And then doing it again) And there is definitely fans upset at this one being delayed. So worth saying again, early screenings at Imax, and a few other cinemas, for us Aussies. And probably worth getting the word out on it.

Several members of SEALUG saw the movie Saturday afternoon in Bellevue, WA.  I am pleased to report that it's a fun film which fans of the first movie are sure to enjoy.

If you want to read my more in-depth review of the movie, plus a look at how closely the official sets match how they appeared in the movie, be sure to check out the Brick Architect review which I just posted!

March 21st is GOOD news. I leave for an overseas trip on the 27th and would likely miss its theatrical run otherwise.

Cheers @Jeremy Beckett, Haven't updated the post yet, but it seems like independent cinemas are screening it early across the country. The biggest "chain" cinema is Events, but I've also seen it advertised in several other cinemas.

Hoyts and Village are conspicuously quiet.

I am very pleased that Roadshow in Australia has decided to do some early pre screenings in Australia.

We have our tickets for Sunday the 10th Feb.

We received confirmation from our LEGO head office with this poster. Thanks to Adrian Di Francesco.

I did reach out to Roadshow in August 2018 and advised them our position about the negative effects of a late release, they where happy to hear from me, so I hope that it may have helped in their decision to at lest do the early screenings.

Interesting fact, our first display was when we did a early screening of the first movie in 2014, we organised a charity fund raiser for the first movie, my wife Joanna and I put on a small display of modular's with a brick build road and train track.

As we didn't want to leave the display unattended while the movie was on, we stayed behind and manned the display.

When everyone came out we said, "don't tell us what happened, we are seeing it next week" but everyone came out and was laughing at us, they said, you will understand when you see the movie.

Well we went next week and we where watching the movie and it gets to the part where you see Fins Father has his displays all over the place with big "Do Not Touch" signs.

Well we sank into our seats, the week before we had the same on our display, ever since then we have never put up a sign like that again.

We do have signs, but they just say, "We look with our eyes not our hands" and we say this rather then what Fins Father says.

We have also gone out of our way, to always have a section in our displays and shows that children can touch, play and interactive with.

Rainbow Bricks will be displaying at two cinemas [Event Cinemas Kotara and Tuggerah, NSW] for this weekend's [Feb 9th/10th] Advance Screenings.
Should be a fun LEGO weekend. 🙂
