  • End of Year LAN Town Hall (2023)

    Jordan P

Twice a year, members of AFOL Engagement host a LAN Town Hall to talk to members of Recognized Community and share updates, challenges, and achievements. The goal is to provide a look back and a look forward to what is happening behind the scenes. It is a casual conversation with multiple presenters and a Q&A at the end.

We are excited to be able to introduce Hannah Quill and Jose Pereira Junior to many of you for the first time and we would also like to thank our special guests Jordan David Scott and Hasan Jensen from LEGO Ideas and Peter Thorslund Kjær from Brand Protection.

Whether you are part of a Recognized Community or not, we hope you enjoy the content and get a better understanding of some of the things happening behind the curtain. If you have any questions, please post them below.

I asked a question in the chat, but I will ask it again:

Concerning not using the word "LEGO" in channel names, what about LEGO Train Clubs?  We've been calling ourselves that phrase for over 30 years, and haven't heard any feedback from TLG.

There are LTCs around the world, and if we were asked to change our names it would be a big undertaking.

LEGO Train Clubs, like LEGO User Groups have not been asked to remove the word LEGO from their names. The name clearly defines that it is a club.

Great watch! Sorry I couldn't make it... I was in the middle of an event setup! I will share with my community and hope to attend the next one :)

Very interesting listening to Peter talk about Brand Protection, I liked that part a lot. I especially loved one of the 3 rules being "LEGO, not Legos" and it infuriates me no end on the LEGO subreddit that it isnt enforced and makes me want to rraaggee!
