LOLUG at the Museum of American Speed - Speed Champions

LOLUG at the Museum of American Speed - Speed Champions

LOLUG in conjunction with the Museum of American Speed had a fun past few days in Lincoln, Nebraska!  Families needed to purchase tickets prior to the event which included LEGO # 31056 Creator 3-in-1 Green Cruiser.  Also included with the ticket price was extra LEGO elements so guests could modify their cars to increase speed.  Once the event began the families had 30 minutes to build their car.  Afterwords a presentation was completed which included aspects of physics of creating extra speed of the LEGO car.  An additional 30 minutes was allowed to test the Green Cruiser on the custom built derby track and use the extra elements to try and increase the speed.  The guests then squared off as the cars were timed down the track with the final car standing winning a LEGO built award.

LOLUG was able to use both the Creator Kit and the Speed Champions kit.  It was a perfect fit for this event as we also were able to display some of our creations and allow the guests to build using the Creator elements and try them out on the smaller Speed Champions ramp.  Of course being at this museum gave us plenty of perfect photo opportunities!

Thanks to LEGO for sending us both of these kits earlier in the year!

I was just browsing at event kit album and trying to find some good photos for a work-related paperwork.

Can't help to say when I saw yours: Wow, what a prefect match in a car museum and the speed champion event kit. Fantastic job!

Thank you Jacky!  It was so well received that it will turn into an annual event so we hope to see you October 27th and 28th in Lincoln this year.  :)

and it would be really great if WE as BrianzaLUG and WE as italian RLUG/RLOC/RLFM could have the chance to have access to the "Speed Champions" event kit: we are sure we would make an excellent use of it, especially if we wiil count on the local office support and engagement!

At first look I thought that the cars are made from LEGO bricks! :D Nice indeed!

We are very lucky to have RoscoPC in our staff, so we are used to have our view "blurred" when we saw his MOC :D

Try to imagine this kind of "beauty" displayed in a museal context and near the real (or similar) ones!
